SAINTS were destined to concede at Fulham according to defender Cedric Soares.

Mark Hughes’ side took the lead through Stuart Armstrong but were pegged back by Aleksandar Mitrovic when he took advantage of lapse defending to nod his header past Alex McCarthy.

Cedric said: “When you are winning 1-0, we put ourselves at risk and we shouldn’t do that.

“I was feeling that it would go to 1-1 because we were very exposed at one moment and then when it happened our heads went immediately.

“We need to be more experienced in these kind of moments. We can play very good, but we just need to be smarter in managing the game.”

Saints had opportunities to leave Craven Cottage with three points but, not for the first time this season, were punished for missing them as well as defensive errors.

Cedric admitted the need to remember the basics to end Saints’ current run of wretched results.

He added: “They had three crosses and three goals. We had a lot of opportunities and didn’t score from them, but we conceded three stupid goals. Everyone makes stupid decisions and sometimes we need to be more simple.”
