Kelvin Davis is not expecting to have a full squad to pick from in his first game as Saints caretaker manager.

Mario Lemina is suspended for tomorrow night’s trip to Tottenham after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season.

Saints were hopeful Danny Ings and Ryan Bertrand would be available again after hamstring and back injuries respectively, but that now looks unlikely.

Meanwhile, young striker Michael Obafemi is also a doubt.

Davis said: “We have some bumps and bruises and a suspension as well.

“I haven’t gone through the body count but Michael left the pitch not in a great state so we will be working on him and I don’t expect a full squad.

“Danny is unlikely and Ryan is unlikely.

“His issue has probably gone on a bit longer than we had hoped.

“I haven’t had a total briefing from the medical staff on that but how I understand it he’s not 100 per cent.”

Davis has insisted he will pick a team purely for Spurs and not with half an eye on a crucial trip to Cardiff coming up on Saturday.

“We have had discussions and the guys working together for the team and the club for Wednesday night and I have spoken about that,” he insisted.

“It is very difficult to pick a team to play on Saturday. I am always about the next game and I think it’s foolish to start worrying about Saturday until we have done Wednesday.

“I won’t lie, it has obviously been in the back of my mind that that game is coming and putting us in the best possible positions to get wins in both games.”
