Manolo Gabbiadini could be on his way out of Saints in January.
Reports in Italy are suggesting that Fiorentina are in talks with Southampton over a possible deal when the transfer window opens next month.
The Serie A side are believed to be interested in securing the striker’s services on loan, but that Saints are keen for the move to be permanent.
Gabbiadini was excluded from Ralph Hasenhuttl’s matchday squad for the 3-2 victory over Arsenal.
He joined Saints during the January transfer window in 2017 and has made 47 appearances for the club.
The Italian has scored 10 times during his time on the south coast but has only found the back of the net once this season.
And in the build-up to the match with Arsenal, Hasenhuttl revealed that he will be looking to make some changes to the squad.
Saints’ boss said: “We have to keep our eyes open in January.
“There can be a few changes in the squad and a few possibilities but first I want a good overview of all the quality I have in my squad.”
