Ralph Hasenhuttl says he will not accept any complacency as Saints seek back-to-back league wins for the first time in 20 months.

The stunning victory over Arsenal has given Saints the perfect springboard to fire themselves away from trouble going into tomorrow’s crunch clash at Huddersfield.

The Terriers are just two points and two places below Saints with both teams well aware of the importance of the fixture.

For Saints it is a fantastic opportunity to string together two Premier League wins on the spin. The last they managed that was in April 2017 when they won against Crystal Palace and West Brom.

After defeating the high-flying Gunners, Hasenhuttl is guarding against any sense of complacency.

“I think the last time we had two consecutive wins was a long time ago. I heard about that,” he said.

“You can be sure as long as I am manager here that if I have the feeling that one guy makes one step less I will tell him and when I tell him I am sure he will immediately improve better, that’s for sure.”

He added: “It helped us a lot this week (beating Arsenal) and it can help us if you don’t lean back and then it would be the wrong signal for all of us.

“We saw it was possible to win games in that manner, in that kind of playing football but what you also see is that it’s only possible with 100 per cent passion and running.

“We invested a lot in this game. The players were very tired after the game and we had a few players still say on Monday or Tuesday it was really forcing but that’s the Premier League. You have to be tired after a game.

“The main goal for me is that I see all the players are quick learning and that was only the beginning. The fundamental is now built and we are facing different exercises.

“Saturday against Huddersfield will be a completely different game and we want to show how far we are in our development and maybe we can take a win.”

Hasenhuttl is well aware that Huddersfield will prove determined opposition but know this is a great chance for his team.

“It’s a six point game,” he admitted.

“I think the win against Arsenal would be really important when we can also get a few points in Huddersfield.

“No one thought that we can take something against Arsenal but against Huddersfield it’s a completely different situation.

“Against Arsenal we were not the favourite and now it’s about a 50-50 game in Huddersfield.

“We had such a game against Cardiff and we want to show now we are one step further in our development.”
