STUART Armstrong hailed Saints’ ability to see the game out against Huddersfield.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side were cruising with a two-goal cushion courtesy of Nathan Redmond and Danny Ings before Philip Billing struck for the Terriers out of nowhere to give them a lifeline.

Michael Obafemi then bagged his first goal for Saints to take the match out of Huddersfield’s reach, leaving Armstrong thrilled.

Armstrong said: “We dominated the first half and controlled last parts of the game.

“They only had one or two chances from what I can remember in the first half and I thought we were clinical in front of goal.

“As soon as someone gets a goal back the game changes and that’s why it’s so important to remain calm and see through the performance to get what we deserved in the end.”

By picking up their second win on the bounce at the John Smith’s Stadium, Saints recorded back-to-back victories for the first time since April 2017.

But, it’s not just the results that are pleasing Armstrong, it’s the manner in which they are getting them.

“The last few months haven’t been easy for us and there has been a lot of disappointment. So, I feel that not only are we getting points, but we are getting the performances as well,” Armstrong added.

“I think we want to be difficult to play against and I think we were today, especially in the first half.

“We are building something very good here and everyone’s very happy about it.”
