Danny Ings will be out for at least a fortnight through injury.

The Saints striker sat out the FA Cup third round tie at Derby due to the hamstring injury that has been plaguing him for some time.

After the game Ralph Hasenhuttl confirmed Ings will have to sit out a longer period.

He said: “We have a few injury problems with our forwards.

“Danny Ings is injured for two weeks and that’s the reason he couldn’t play and Stuie Armstrong I gave a rest to and he couldn’t play as he has problem with his ankle also.”

However, Ings’ issue is unlikely to make any difference to the future of Manolo Gabbiadini, who has attracted several offers from Italy and will be sold if the right deal can be struck for him and the club.

“A few teams are interested in Manolo and we have a look and if there’s a result we tell you,” said Hasenhuttl.

“Sure (there has been offers). We have to decide and he has to decide where he wants to go.”

Steven Davis’ move to Rangers is expected to be tied up in the coming days, but Hasenhuttl again confirmed it will likely be a case of players needing to go before any new faces arrive.

“I don’t want to discuss any transfer speculation,” insisted Hasenhuttl “First we have to have a look because our squad is really big and we want to put a few players out and then we can speak about the new guys.”
