SAINTS great Matt Le Tissier has accepted an offer to become an official ambassador for the club.

Le Tissier made 540 appearances for Saints and scored 209 times during a career that was dedicated to the St Mary’s side.

Since retiring in 2002, Le Tissier has been voted as the club’s greatest player of all-time.

His role as an official club ambassador won’t get in the way of his weekly position on Sky Sports News, but will see him represent Saints in the community and around the world.

Saints chairman Ralph Krueger said: “I’m extremely pleased that Matt has agreed to accept our offer of becoming an official Club Ambassador.

“Matt’s history as a Saint needs no introduction, he has epitomised the club ever since he joined us as a schoolboy in 1985.

Southampton Football Club means so much to Matt.
