Saints have a raft of selection problems ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Leicester.

Mario Lemina is still a doubt with a stomach problem while central midfield partner Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg serves the third match of his four-game suspension.

Strike pair Danny Ings and Michael Obafemi remain sidelined by hamstring issues while Maya Yoshida is away with Japan in the Asia Cup.

Ryan Bertrand is training again after his back operation, but Ralph Hasenhuttl says it premature to think about a first team return just yet.

“For the Leicester game is much too early,” said Hasenhuttl of the left back. “He is training fit but not match fit and it will take time until he gets in that shape as normal because he didn’t train for a long time.

“Obafemi takes longer than we first thought it would take. It was a tendon injury so it takes a little longer and that’s not good for us because we need this guy.

“Danny Ings can be an option for the Everton game. Can be. I hope so he will be.

“Sam Gallagher is also back on the pitch. Two sessions this week and not 100 per cent so we took him out for a few parts. Most of the training he was with the team and he looks good.

“Two bad news and two good.”
