Leeds United are chasing the signature of Fraser Forster according to the Daily Star.

Forster has been told by Saints manager Ralph Hasenhuttl that he won’t be afforded game time in the first team.

Instead, the England international will have to drop down to the U23 side if he wants to get some minutes on the pitch.

Because of this, it’s been reported that high-flying Championship side, Leeds, are keen to put the goalkeeper out of his misery.

Leeds manager, Marcelo Bielsa, is said to want the deal done by the time they play Stoke this weekend.

Forster is on around £70k a week at Saints, after signing a five-year contract at the club in 18 months ago.

He hasn’t featured in the first team since the Boxing Day defeat to Tottenham in 2017 where he shipped in five goals.

Alex McCarthy replaced him for the following game and has gone onto make his England debut following a string of good performances.

Forster was pushed further away from the first team when Saints signed Angus Gunn from Manchester City in the summer.

Gunn immediately landed a spot on the bench as McCarthy’s backup, but was given his chance to impress Hasenhuttl in the games against Chelsea and Derby at the beginning of this month.
