RALPH Hasenhuttl is satisfied with Saints’ recent progress under his leadership but insists there is still more to come.

Hasenhuttl has wasted no time in trying to implement his ideas and philosophies, even during the tough run of fixtures Saints have faced since his arrival.

It has paid off as the team have improved both in terms of performances and results to drag themselves away from the relegation zone.

Two sets of back-to-back Premier League wins - firstly against Arsenal and Huddersfield and then Leicester and Everton - have boosted confidence and morale around St Mary’s and increased the belief the squad have in their new manager.

Even though Saints are not the finished article tactically for Hasenhuttl, he is pleased with how well the players have taken on board and acted upon his methods.

He said: “I think we tried to put a lot of stuff until now in their minds and you can feel like on last weekend (the win against Everton) it was our best game until now.

“You saw a lot of things we are demanding the group to do and it’s always about making mistakes and learning out of them.

“The mistakes are getting less. There are still mistakes in the game. It’s not possible to make a perfect game.

“The negatives are getting less and the positive things are growing and that’s maybe the reason it looks now much different and much more successful.”
