Wesley Hoedt’s first game on loan at Celta Vigo ended in disaster as he was sent off.
The Dutch centre half, who has joined the Spanish side for the remainder of the season, was relishing his La Liga debut.
However, it will be a game he will want to forget quickly.
He was booked four minutes before half time with a Celta Vigo side also featuring another Saints loanee in Sofiane Boufal having grabbed an early lead.
Things quickly deteriorated in the second half as Valldolid struck twice to turn the match on its head before Hoedt received a second yellow card for dangerous play three minutes from the end.
Celta Vigo lost the game 2-1 with Hoedt the first player to be sent off on his debut for the club since 1996.
