Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has ruled out the possibility of James Tavernier moving to Saints.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side were linked with the right back over the weekend after reports emerged in national newspapers touting the transfer.
However, former Liverpool and England captain Gerrard says the defender won’t be leaving Ibrox this month.
When questioned about Saints’ interest, Gerrard said: “They're not. We made a call on it this morning and they're not.
“I think there will be talk of Tav and talk of Alfredo but the reality is there hasn't been a solid bid for any of our players so far.
“Will one come? Possibly, I'm not sure. I'll have to answer the question when it does.
“There hasn't been a respectable bid for any of the players where we stand right now.”
One player Saints are keen on signing, though, is Birmingham’s Che Adams.
The striker fits the profile of player that Hasenhuttl wants to bring to St Mary’s Stadium due to his young age and raw talent.
