Ahead of the upcoming Premier League game against Crystal Palace, Saints fan Kelly Orse, 38, places herself In the Dugout.
How long have you been supporting Saints?
I’ve supported Saints for the 30 years and have been a season ticket holder for 28 of those.
What are your pre-match thoughts heading into the Crystal Palace game?
I think the Crystal Palace game will be a tough one for us, especially after Palace’s last couple of matches.
They had a good win in the FA Cup by beating Tottenham Hotspur and were unlucky in the Premier League against Liverpool. They seem to be scoring a lot of goals at the moment.
Despite this, I’m hoping their legs will be tired after Sunday’s game which will hopefully work in our favour as we’ve had 10 days to prepare for this fixture.
How would you set the side up for the game?
My team for this game would be:
McCarthy, Valery, Bednarek, Vestergaard, Stephens, Targett, Romeu, Hojbjerg, Ward-Prowse, Redmond, Ings.
However, I am torn between picking James Ward-Prowse Prowse and Stuart Armstrong.
What have you made of Saints’ transfer window so far? A lot of outgoings, but no new arrivals?
I think it’s been a quiet transfer window as far as players coming in.
I’m really disappointed we have let Cedric Soares go because I don’t think Yan Valery is experienced enough in that position and can be quite reckless at times.
I am hoping we find a decent replacement for Cedric and that we also manage to sign a striker before the deadline given the rumours surrounding Charlie Austin’s future at the club.
Who is it a big game for and why?
I think it’s just as big a game for both teams as we are in a similar league position.
It’s always an advantage playing at home with the crowd behind you, let’s just hope the fans get behind the team again.
