Burnley are battling Saints for the signature of Birmingham ace Che Adams, according to the Daily Mirror.

The report suggests that Adams would be happy to join either side after they both agreed to double his wages to £35,000 a week.

Burnley want to bring the 22-year-old striker to Turf Moor before they offload Sam Vokes to Stoke in a £9m deal.

Sean Dyche’s side are confident they will be able to land Adams due to their track record in developing young talent which includes Tom Heaton, Nick Pope and Chris Wood.

The Daily Echo reported in the week that Saints had opened discussions with Birmingham over signing the striker and the Daily Mirror claims they had an £8m bid rejected.

Manager Ralph Hasenhuttl was questioned over the club’s pursuit of Adams at his press conference, but he refused to be drawn to the subject.
