Ralph Hasenhuttl confirmed Saints are still open for business on transfer deadline day.
The club are yet to sign anyone but have shipped out Steven Davis, Manolo Gabbiadini, Wesley Hoedt and Cedric Soares on loan.
Saints have been linked with Che Adams and Hasenhuttl believes it’s time people ‘show their hands’.
When questioned if all their business is done, the Austrian said: “No, not yet.
“On the last day there are always a few options that suddenly pop up and show us that it’s maybe a chance to get an interesting player.
“We are still busy and the last day is a day where everyone stops with the poker and the cards come on the table.
“It’s not about wasting time then and it can happen that we do something today.”
The Daily Echo reported last week that Saints had opened negotiations with Birmingham over the signing of Adams.
However, the Championship club are adamant they don’t want to sell their star striker given the fact they have a transfer embargo and wouldn’t be able to replace him.
Hasenhuttl refused to be drawn on Adams specifically, but admitted the club are still working behind the scenes to add to their squad.
“I don’t want to speak about special names, I want to speak about the general situation that is the last day of the transfer window,” Saints’ boss added.
“Suddenly, things you were interested in have a possibility and then you grab it with both hands if it’s there.
“We are still working on a few things.”
