Saints had a loan offer turned down by Paris Saint-Germain for defender Colin Dagba, according to French newspaper L’Equipe.
The right back is reported to have been pursued by Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl after Cedric Soares joined Inter Milan until the end of the season.
However, PSG manager Thomas Tuchel rejected the advances from the St Mary’s side for Dagba.
Dagba, 20, played four times at the beginning of the season, but until their Champions League match with Manchester United on Tuesday night, he hadn’t featured in the team since last weekend.
Tuchel then included the right back in the matchday squad for PSG’s Champions League victory over Manchester United on Tuesday.
He came on in the 81st minute when he replaced former United player Angel Di Maria.
