A NUMBER of Winchester roads are set to close on Sunday as the Winchester 10k Road Race returns.
Hundreds of runners are set to take to the city’s streets for the event, which is being held on Sunday, starting at 8.30am.
The race will start outside Winchester Guildhall in The Broadway before following a new route this year. The race will head up St George’s Street before going out towards the village of Kings Worthy. The return leg passes through the village of Headbourne Worthy and back towards Winchester before finishing at the North Walls Recreation Centre.
As result civic chiefs have put a number of closures in place. They include:
l The Broadway between Eastgate Street and Colebrook Street, Colebrook Street between Market Lane and The Broadway – 8am to 9am;
l Eastgate Street, Friarsgate Street, St George's Street, Jewry Street, Hyde Street – 8.30am to 9am;
l Worthy Road between Andover Road and Church Lane, Bedfield Lane, Springvale Road, Well House Lane between Nations Hill and Andover Road, Andover Road to the junction with Well House Lane – 8.30am to 10.30am;
l Russell Road, Hillier Way – 9am to 10.30am.
