INTER Milan want to send Cedric Soares back to Saints in the summer, according to Italian media outlet Tuttosport.

The defender joined the Nerazzuri in January on loan until the end of the season, with the Serie A side having the option to buy him for £9m.

Cedric’s featured five times in all competitions since his move to the San Siro after being drafted in to fill the void left by the injured Sime Vrsalijko.

Inter are said to be keen to revive their interest in Manchester United’s Matteo Darmian.

The report suggests that the Italian side wanted to sign Darmian as their first choice in January but were put off by United’s £10m asking price.

However, the right-back will only have one year remaining on his Old Trafford contract in the summer, which could prompt them to lower their asking price.

Because of their failure to sign Darmian, Inter Milan ended up with Cedric, whose performances haven’t won over the Italian media.

This won’t be an ideal situation for the Portuguese international due to Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl making it clear he would be a part of his plans going forward.

Yan Valery, who replaced Cedric in the Saints starting XI, has made the right-back position his own and scored a stunning goal in the 3-2 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday.

And with the Frenchman continuing to develop under Hasenhuttl, there's no guarantee Cedric will find himself back in the team if he returns.
