RALPH Hasenhuttl has confirmed that Jannik Vestergaard’s season is over.

The defender has missed the last two games against Newcastle and Watford with a groin injury.

It’s yet to be decided whether Vestergaard will need a small operation to resolve the issue.

Hasenhuttl said: “Jannik Vestergaard’s season is over because he had a small issue.

“Maya [Yoshida] is still not able to play. That means we must change the team a little bit like we did in the last game. The rest is normally ok.”

Although the Saints defence has been hit with two injuries, Hasenhuttl was happy to report that there were no other serious issues within the squad.

Michael Obafemi and Alex McCarthy are the only other two players unavailable for selection against West Ham this weekend.

Hasenhuttl also confirmed that Mario Lemina and Stuart Armstrong are both options to play from the start on Saturday.

The Saints boss added: “We have no injured players so far expect from these two and Michael Obafemi who is long term injured.

“Lemina is an option for the weekend.

“Stuie Armstrong couldn’t play from the beginning and is an option. We have a few players and that means not it’s not such an easy decision for me.”
