Saints are keen on signing Thomas Goiginger in a £5m deal, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

Goiginger currently plies his trade at Austrian side LASK Linz.

The report suggests that Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has been targeting the winger from as early as January.

Goiginger has been the Austrian side's best player this season, scoring 14 goals and creating 17 in just 40 appearances.

This has helped LASK Linz to second in the Austrian Bundesliga, with Red Bull Salzburg ahead of them.

The 26-year-old is said to be able to play on either wing which is the type of versatility that Hasenhuttl will be trying to add to his squad over the summer.

Goiginger was called up to the Austrian national team for the first time in his career last November.

It's claimed that LASK Linz aren't interested in selling their key player, but that a bid of around £5m would test their resolve.
