LASK Linz vice-chairman Jurgen Werner has revealed Saints' interest in Thomas Goiginger, according to Austrian outlet Nachrichten.

Ralph Hasenhuttl's side were last week linked with a £5 million move for the 26-year-old.

Speaking to Nachrichten, Werner admitted that although a formal offer is yet to be issued, there has been an enquiry.

Goiginger had an excellent season for LASK Linz, scoring 14 goals and creating 17 in only 40 appearances.

It's believed that the winger is able to play on either wing which suits the versatility that Hasenhuttl is searching for during this transfer window.

As a reward for his campaign, Goininger received his first call-up to the Austrian national team last November.

An earlier report claimed that LASK Linz didn't want to part company with their key player, but that a bid of around £5 million would give them plenty to think about.
