Anthony Knockaert has thanked Albion and their fans for their support when his dad died.

The winger sent an emotional farewell via social media after completing his loan move to Fulham.

The one-year arrangement is likely to become more permanent next summer.

Knockaert helped Albion win promotion to the Premier League and stay there going into a third season.

He was also named man of the match in the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City.

But he said support he received when his father died in the autumn of 2016 will live longest in his memory.

Knockaert wrote: “Nothing will ever match the love and support I received when I lost my father.

“It is well documented how difficult this time was for me but, without the club and the fans, it would have been unbearable. For this alone, I will be forever grateful.”

The full post, in which Knockaert referred to his three-and-a-half years at Albion as the best of his career to date, can be read on his official Instagram account, knockaert_anthony.
