DAN N'Lundulu netted the only goal of the game as Saints Under-23s beat Eastleigh at the Silverlake Stadium.

N'Lundulu got himself on the scoresheet midway through the second half to ensure Radhi Jaidi's team left with the win.

The friendly was Eastleigh's final test before their National League campaign gets underway this weekend against Notts County.

Ben Strevens' side started the match brightly and tested Saints goalkeeper Harry Lewis in the first minute.

Striker Ben Williamson managed to get a shot away from inside the box but his effort was denied by Lewis.

Saints then had a chance of their own five minutes later when N'Lundulu weaved his way into the Eastleigh area.

The 20-year-old managed to create some space for himself, only for his strike to be saved by Ross Flitney.

N'Lundulu continued to showcase his talent and came agonisingly close to handing Saints the lead.

He made light work of Rob Atkinson and Alex Wynter before bending his shot just wide of the post.

Eastleigh responded to this by almost bagging a goal against the run of play when Williamson was inches away from getting his head on Sam Smart's centre.

The Spitfires duo linked up again moments later, with Smart continuing to be useful down the wing.

His cross was this time met by Williamson at the near post but his shot was deflected away from danger.

With Saints seemingly on the ropes, Eastleigh continued to press for an opening goal.

And in the 33rd minute, they had their closest chance yet.

Midfielder Jack McKnight nutmegged a Saints defender before being in on goal with just Lewis in his way.

However, the Saints goalkeeper made an excellent save to keep the score level.

Jaidi's youngsters recovered well and ended the first half dominating the play.

In what could have been for his hat-trick, N'Lundulu got another shot away with Flitney nowhere to be seen but the striker managed to hit the post.

Eastleigh started the second half brightly and nearly broke the deadlock in the 54th minute.

Their captain, Danny Hollands, chipped his effort towards an open net, only for it to be cleared off the line.

This woke the U23s up and led to them piling on the pressure.

Flitney had to be on hand to make a speculative save from just six yards out in the 66th minute.

However, Eastleigh's resolute goalkeeper was eventually beaten shortly after.

Saints midfielder Kornelius Hansen linked up with N'Lundulu in the Spitfires' box which led to the latter slotting the ball home.
