Mohamed Elyounoussi has been linked with a move away from Saints.
The winger, who joined for £16m last summer, is said to have attracted interest from Turkish side Besiktas and Championship outfit Stoke City.
Norwegian media outlet Sarpsborg Arbeiderblad have claimed that Stoke have proposed a loan deal with an option to buy, with Besiktas making him their "number one target".
Elyounoussi was left out of Saints' most recent pre-season game against FC Koln on Saturday.
The 25-year-old struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League during his first campaign with the club.
Signed under Mark Hughes' management and as Dusan Tadic's replacement, Elyounoussi failed to score or create any goals last season.
