Saints have been drawn away to Fulham in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men will play the tie at Craven Cottage in the week commencing August 26.

Saints made it to the fourth round last year before being beaten on penalties at Leicester after a goalless 90 minutes in what proved to be the penultimate game in charge for Mark Hughes.

Fulham were relegated from the Premier League last season but managed a 3-2 win over Saints at Craven Cottage in late November.

Stuart Armstrong scored twice but two goals from Aleksander Mitrovic and one from Andre Schurrle ensured a rare victory for Claudio Ranieri’s team.

Saints did exact a measure of revenge in the return game at St Mary’s in February as strikes from Oriol Romeu and James Ward-Prowse sealed a 2-0 victory.
