Wesley Hoedt has joined Belgian outfit Antwerp on a season-long loan deal.
The defender, who joined Saints in August 2017 for £15m from Lazio, hasn’t featured for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side since the start of the new season.
He was sent out on loan to Celta Vigo back in January, before returning to the south coast for pre-season training in the summer.
But after failing to force his way into Hasenhuttl’s plans, Hoedt will be hoping to impress his new side.
Antwerp have the option to buy the 25-year-old on a permanent basis next summer, which is something Saints would want to see happen.
Upon his return to Saints in the summer, Hasenhuttl wiped his slate clean and offered him a second chance.
This saw Hoedt travel to Austria for the club’s first pre-season tour, as well as playing against both Preston and Feyenoord.
However, when the Premier League campaign got underway last month, he found himself excluded from the matchday squads.
