A WHOLE host of Saints stars will be in international action over the coming week.

Defenders Jan Bednarek and Maya Yoshida were called up for Poland and Japan.

Captain Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and midfielder Stuart Armstrong were also selected for their respective national sides Denmark and Scotland.

Deadline day signing Kevin Danso will be representing the Austrian Under-21s, with striker Michael Obafemi picked for the Republic of Ireland’s U21s.

Yoshida will kickstart the international break for Japan tomorrow when his side plays Paraguay in the Kirin Cup 2019.

After that, Japan will start getting themselves prepared for their World Cup qualifier with Myanmar on Tuesday, 10 September.

Hojbjerg will also be in action on Thursday, as Denmark will continue their pursuit of Euro 2020 qualification with a game against Gibraltar away from home.

The Saints captain’s side are currently five points behind Ireland, who occupy the top spot in Group D, although the leaders have played one more game.

Denmark started their quest for qualification by beating Georgia and drawing against Ireland and Switzerland.

After playing Gibraltar, Hojbjerg will be readying himself for another match with Group D’s worst side, Georgia, on Sunday, 8 September.

Bednarek’s Poland side have opened their Euro 2020 qualifiers with four straight wins which has left them five points clear at the top of Group G.

They will have the chance to extend their gap when they play Slovenia this Friday before next Monday’s match with Austria.

Should Poland beat Austria, he can return to Saints training a happy man knowing he has bragging rights over manager Ralph Hasenhuttl.

Armstrong’s Scotland will be looking to getting back to winning ways when they go up against last year’s World Cup hosts Russia in two days’ time.

Following that tie, which will be played at Hampden Park, manager Steve Clarke will get his players ready for their next qualifier.

This will be at home to group leaders and World Cup semi-finalists Belgium on Monday, 9 September.

Danso will be turning out for the Austrian U21s tomorrow when they play Andorra away from home in a Euro Under-21 qualifier.

The defender will be in action again next Monday, as the youngsters travel to Albania.

Obafemi will be doing his best to help the Republic of Ireland’s U21s qualify for the same competition.

First up for the Saints striker is a match with Armenia on Friday, before their second game against Sweden next Tuesday.
