SHEFFIELD United manager Chriss Wilder insists there isn't an issue between him and Saints striker Che Adams.

The newly-promoted side sold Adams to Birmingham in 2016, after he had spent two years at Bramall Lane.

Adams is in line to start against his former club tomorrow, which led to Wilder claiming the pair are on good terms.

Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Wilder said: “He was a young player and had obviously scored a few goals under Nigel (Adkins) and made a few headlines.

“There was interest from another club and he wanted to go. I wanted players who wanted to help Sheffield United out.

“There was no issue between me and Che. At the time we had to raise funds to reinvest in different areas, which we did.”

Adams arrived at Saints at the beginning of July, with the south coast side trying to lure him away from Birmingham in January.

He made an immediate impact during pre-season, where he regularly found the back of the net.

However, the striker is yet to get off the mark in the Premier League.

But former Saints youngster and Sheffield boss Wilder reckons it won't be long before the 23-year-old proves himself in the top-flight.

He added: “Che went on and did very well at Birmingham and had a great season last year to get his move to Southampton.

“He’ll be looking to establish himself as much as we are in the Premier League.”
