LEICESTER City boss Brendan Rodgers is looking forward to a reunion with Danny Ings and has warned his defence to stay alert.

Rodgers was still in charge of Liverpool when they signed him from Burnley back in 2015.

Because of this, the former Celtic chief is fully aware of the threat the striker will pose his side.

“He’s a very good player, Danny. I signed him for Liverpool so I know his qualities," said Rodgers.

"He wants to run in behind and he’s a very good finisher when he gets in. It's really nice to see for him, that he has got that clean bill of health.

"He’s been able to play and get regular game time.

“He is a very good player and he is one we have to watch. He wants to score and he scores different types of goals. He will be a threat for them.”

Ings has been key for Saints this season, scoring five times in his last four matches.

However, he’ll have to be at his best against a Leicester team who are third in the table and who have conceded just eight goals so far.

Even though Rodgers is confident his defence will be able to keep Ings quiet tomorrow night, he expects it to be a tough 90 minutes.

The Leicester boss added: "He is a very good finisher and once he gets in, he has got different types of finishes. What Danny has is a great mentality.

"He has had a number of injuries in his career and it really shows you how strong he is.

“When he was at Bournemouth as a young player, and when we took him from Burnley, he was very, very unfortunate. He picked up a number of injuries.

"He scored in my last game at Liverpool, in the derby game. He is a threat and it's just been unfortunate that he hasn't been able to stay fit.

"It's nice to see him - he got his move there on loan and it was made permanent.

"He can really focus on that side of his game now and once he does that, gets a regular run of games, he will show that he can always score goals.

"He is a good guy. He gives his all in training and in games, and like I say, he is one we have to be wary of."
