In wake of last Friday's 9-0 defeat at St Mary's to Leicester, Saints' players and coaching staff announced they would be donating their wages to the Saints Foundation.

Here's how supporters of the club reacted to the news:

Sergio Ramos

"Least they could do, but fair play.

"Now start working on the MASSIVE reaction you owe us next week!"

Kudu

"It's a gesture but is small change.

"How about refunding the fans who paid to be there the price of a ticket and travel expenses?

"These players earn tens of thousands a week.

"They should be ashamed, embarrassed and yet they will take no responsibility for such an unprofessional performance.

"They are not fit to wear the shirt, yet those who watched that on Friday and are humiliated and angry and who wear the shirt week in and week out in the stands are treated with contempt by those on the pitch and in charge."

Profit of Rage

"They can never put that result right. No one will ever lose 0-9 at home, again, in the Premier League. Freak scoreline created by a pathetic, weak, timid, cowardly performance.

"No wins at home in more than six months.

"No fight. No goals. No leaders. No chance.

"We're down this season, barring miracles."

SaintsinStripes

"One days wages? ONE? For the worst result in 134 years of history. They don't get it, do they?"

Linesman

"That's a small price to pay for the embarrassment they caused to the club, the supporters, and more importantly, to themselves.

"To get rid of this unwanted record (the highest away win in the Premier League), they should get their act together, and stuff some team, 11 - 0 on their travels.

"When that happens, expect a swarm of pigs to perform a fly-past over St Marys!"

BillBoSaint

"One day's salary when you get 50,000 a week is nothing more than a token gesture.

"Ultimately though doesn't make any difference if they donated a months salary, won't change anything or put anything right. The only way to do that is to start winning."

Chapperall

"This is a good gesture. However, what us supporters want to hear is what the club is going to do to halt the decline of the club? The supporters need to be given some hope as currently, it's pretty miserable being a Saints supporter.

"The home support has been starved of success and needs to see changes ahead otherwise I fear the gates will continue to decline and the mood of the fans will turn pretty ugly."
