SOFIANE Boufal will miss Saturday’s game with Watford after stubbing his big toe at home.
The playmaker was running through his kitchen when the injury occurred, although manager Ralph Hasenhuttl confirmed he hadn’t broken it.
Hasenhuttl said: “Sofiane Boufal hit his toe at home on the table, the big one, and couldn’t train for three days because it’s still a little bit swollen.
“It will be a little bit difficult for the weekend. It’s broken or anything, it’s just very swollen.
“He ran to the kitchen and hit it against the table or something like that.”
Elsewhere on the injury front, Saints will be without midfielder Stuart Armstrong.
The Scottish international tweaked his hamstring at the Emirates Stadium last Saturday and is likely to be out for two weeks.
This will come as a blow to Armstrong after he managed to force his way back into Hasenhuttl’s starting XI.
Saints’ boss added: “The first one is Stuart Armstrong. At the end of the last game, he grabbed his hamstring a little bit and has a little problem with it now.
“He is not able to play at the weekend and it might be two weeks, but we will have a look.
“He might be an option again after the Newcastle game.”
Defender Jannik Vestergaard, who was excluded from last weekend’s matchday squad, is a doubt for the Watford tie.
Hasenhuttl said: “Jannik has been ill for two days but is back in training.”
