RALPH Hasenhuttl revealed that Sofiane Boufal is set to miss today’s training session.

The playmaker has a swollen toe after stubbing it on one of his kitchen units at home.

He recovered in time to be on the bench for Saturday’s win over Watford and made an immediate impact when he came on.

However, Hasenhuttl claimed his toe had had a bad reaction to the game.

Saints’ boss said: “I must say that it’s getting worse and this isn’t a good signal. After the game, the reaction wasn’t the best one.

“Tomorrow will be difficult I think. He might be on the bench but not from the beginning.

“This isn’t a positive message, but maybe he won’t train today I think.

“There is still pain and we will have to have a look. The rest of the team is ok.”

Apart from Boufal and Stuart Armstrong, Saints have a clean bill of health for tomorrow’s crucial home tie with Norwich.

Hasenhuttl is keen for his players to follow up Saturday’s victory with another under the lights at St Mary’s and ease the pressure going into the weekend.

Given the impact Boufal made when he came on against Watford, the Austrian is hopeful he’ll make a full recovery sooner rather than later.

He added: “He showed last game how important he is for us and it was important we had him from the bench to sub him.

“We hope this injury gets better because we have a lot of games.

“We must look and hope that the treatment goes well.”
