SAINTS Under-23s were beaten 5-0 by Liverpool away from home in the Premier League 2, leaving them bottom of the table.

Liverpool's FA Cup star Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliot, Liam Millar and a double from Joe Hardy did the damage to Dave Horseman's youngsters.

The home side got off to a quick start and could have taken the lead early on but for a couple of good saves from Jack Bycroft.

However, Liverpool were ahead within three minutes when Elliot was picked out by Pedro Chirivella pass before slotting home.

They extended their lead through Hardy and then added a third before half time when he beat Bycroft for the second time.

Saints changed their shape after the break and managed to halt Liverpool's dominance.

But after keeping the home side at bay for the majority of the half, Saints' good work was undone with four minutes to go.

Jones, who already had an assist to his name, curled his strike into the top corner, with Millar scoring their fifth to complete the rout.
