LEICESTER City are interested in Saints defender Jannik Vestergaard.

Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers is looking to sign a centre-back in this window which has promted his club to get in contact with Saints to enquire about Vestergaard.

It's been reported in the national media that Leicester are looking to pay £15m for the defender.

However, it's understood by the Daily Echo that Saints will want more than the £18m they splashed out on Vestergaard back in 2018.

The club see him as a good backup option and don't feel the need to sell - especially for less than they paid.

Earlier this month, the Daily Echo reported he's a player that could leave before the window shuts.

Vestergaard has struggled for minutes on the pitch in recent months after Jan Bednarek and Jack Stephens have formed a solid partnership at the back.

Before replacing the injured Bednarek at Crystal Palace on Tuesday, the Denmark international's last Premier League appearance came against Everton in November.
