SAINTS’ players have been told not to go anywhere this weekend as Ralph Hasenhuttl wants them in on Monday to start preparing for Watford.

The St Mary’s side were due to be playing Norwich this afternoon, but the Premier League cancelled all matches until April because of coronavirus.

As a consequence of this, Hasenhuttl gave his players the weekend off before they start planning for their match with the Hornets at the beginning of next month.

Due to the club not having a game next weekend, their plan was to always use these two weeks to find their way back to winning ways after a disappointing run of results.

It was then expected that several members of the squad were going to go on international duty, but those games have also been scrapped by the relevant governing bodies because of Covid-19.

Hasenhuttl revealed on Thursday, when the fixtures were still set to be played, that he wouldn’t allow his players to leave if they were selected.

He said: “To be honest, when I have to send my international players over Europe, I don’t want to do this.

“Everybody is speaking about not travelling at the moment so, for me, to send them somewhere is an absolute no go.

“I don’t want to send them anywhere. They should normally stay here.”
