PUNDIT Andy Gray insisted Jordon Ibe had been “so well thought of” when joining Cherries from Liverpool but said the winger has had a “huge fall”.

Ibe, signed for a then club record £15million from Liverpool in 2016, is set to leave Cherries on July 1 following the expiration of his contract.

Discussing Londoner Ibe on The Keys & Gray Show, the former Everton and Aston Villa striker said: “It's a huge fall.

"This young kid, he was so well thought of when he went to Bournemouth.

“I think Liverpool put a buy-back clause in because they thought he was going to reach heights - maybe not with them just then - but they wanted to have the ability to be first to buy him back.

"Let's just say they are not exercising that buy-back."

Ibe, whose verified Twitter account resurfaced this weekend, did a Q&A with fans on Saturday evening.

Asked what the biggest regret in his career had been, a post from the 24-year-old’s account said: “No regrets. Just need to apply myself and work myself hard.”

Former Wycombe youngster Ibe has not featured for Eddie Howe’s men since a 2-0 Carabao Cup defeat to Burton back in September.
