SOFIANE Boufal took to social media to explain why he was excluded from Ralph Hasenhuttl’s matchday squad for the Arsenal tie.
The playmaker was a noticeable absentee on the bench and left the Austrian without a player who can come on and make an impact in the attacking third.
But Boufal revealed he’s still recovering from an injury that he picked up during training on Monday.
Pour répondre à tous vos messages, mon absence pour le match d’aujourd’hui est due à une légère blessure à la cuisse contractée lundi à l’entraînement. Merci pour vos messages. #SB19

The Moroccan tweeted: “To answer all your messages, my absence for today's game is due to a slight thigh injury contracted Monday at training. Thank you for your messages.”
Saints were beaten 2-0 by Arsenal, thanks to goals from Eddie Nketiah and Joseph Willock.
