JAKE Vokins received Ralph Hasenhuttl's plaudits after making his Premier League debut against Brighton.

The defender came close to scoring in the second half but could only watch on as his strike sizzled past the post.

Vokins, who came through the club's academy, made his first-team debut against Huddersfield in January.

However, he's had to stay patient to receive his chance to shine in the Premier League.

Hasenhuttl said: “I think he did absolutely OK.

“In the first half he was coming in deep and it didn’t work so good.

“But in the second half, he showed some fantastic passes, especially the one to Reddy.

“He took risks and was calm on the ball. He made a big shot on the goal and nearly scored.

“It was a brave performance.”
