JAKE Vokins says playing a part in sending Bournemouth down isn't on Saints' players' minds ahead of tomorrow's tie.

Ralph Hasenhuttl's side can land a hammer blow on the Vitality Stadium outfit's chances of Premier League survival with a victory.

But Vokins, who made his top-flight debut against Brighton on Thursday, insists Saints aren't interested in that.

He said: “We aren’t thinking about that [relegating them] at all.

“We are only focused on our game, so we will prepare how we do for every game and aim to get the three points.

“I think we will stick to our normal game plan and play like that.”

Vokins also said he hasn't given any thought as to why Bournemouth are in such a perilous position.

The youngster added: “I’m not really bothered about that because we are only focused on ourselves and where we want to finish in the table, which is in the top half.”

After making his first team debut against Huddersfield back in January, Vokins had to endure a long wait before being given another opportunity.

This, he says, is part and parcel of developing as a youngster and trying to adapt his game to Hasenhuttl's style of play.

“It’s been about patience," he explained.

“I’m still a young player, so when Ralph gives me an opportunity I want to be able to prove that I can do what he wants me to do.

“I know I’ve got to keep working hard to get those opportunities.”
