CHE Adams hopes to see Saints’ impressive form continue into next season.

The St Mary’s side went six Premier League games without defeat on Sunday after beating Bournemouth 2-0.

Adams was on target at the Vitality Stadium and is desperate to see the club’s recent run of results not come to a grinding halt.

“I think it’s all clicked at the end and you can all see how we die for each other on the pitch,” said the former Birmingham striker.

“We are about getting three points and to do that you need to work hard, and we are a hard-working team.

“Long may it continue.”

Saints’ 2019/20 campaign will come to its delayed end at home to Sheffield United on Sunday.

The season was due to finish in May, but the coronavirus pandemic led to football being paused until June.

Since the Premier League resumed, Saints have been one of the most in-form teams, securing 15 points out of a possible 24.

Although fans won’t be able to salute their side at the end of the game, Adams is keen to make the St Mary’s faithful proud by signing off with another win.

“It’s the Premier League and you always want to do your best,” he added. “We are there for three points and we will do everything we can to get them.

“It would be nice to have the fans there and it’s a horrible situation, but we are doing them proud now.

“We want to make sure we get the final win.”

Adams’ late strike against Bournemouth was his second goal of the season, having opened his Saints account with a spectacular winner against Manchester City at the start of this month.

Although he’s still 19 short of Danny Ings’ impressive Premier League haul of 21, last summer’s signing hopes he can hit the ground running at the start of the 2020/21 campaign.

Adams added: “The lads have kept their faith in me and so has the manager.

“I think I’m slowly repaying them now but it’s all about consistency as a striker and you want to get as many goals as you can.

“It would be nice to get as many goals as Ingsy’s got but that’s something for me to build on next season.”
