RALPH Hasenhuttl says there’s plenty to be optimistic about ahead of next season after his side beat Sheffield United.
Second half goals from Che Adams and Danny Ings cancelled out John Lundstram’s opener.
Saints finished the season in 11th and Hasenhuttl labelled Sunday’s victory as one of their best performances of the campaign.
Hasenhuttl said: “It’s not only hope, but it’s also the confidence that we are doing the right thing, especially with the ball.
“I saw a team that was really patient and waiting for the right moment in the second half against a deep-defending opponent.
“We deserved the win and I think it could even be higher than 3-1. It’s not easy to create so many chances against such a good defence.
“With the ball, it was one of our best performances this season.”
Adams’ brace took his tally to four in six games, having failed to score in his previous 30 appearances for the St Mary’s side.
“It was absolutely important for him to score after the break and we always knew he could help us in the future,” added Hasenhuttl.
“He got more adapted to our game and with Ingsy also up front we have two players doing well and then we have Michael and Longy as well.
“This is definitely a position where we are in good shape.”
