AZ ALKMAAR are considering a move to sign Saints defender Wesley Hoedt, according to reports.
Hoedt joined Saints from Lazio in 2017 for £15million, but has spent the past 18 months out on loan at Celta Vigo and then Royal Antwerp.
The Dutchman, who has earned seven senior caps for his country, played 21 times for Antwerp last season.
According a report translated from Belgian outlet Voetbal Primeur, Eredivisie outfit AZ are now weighing up a move for their former defender in preparation for a Champions League qualifier later this month.
Hoedt, 26, began his youth career at AZ, progressing all the way into the first team before departing for Lazio.
The report claims AZ are also interested in Huddersfield man Terence Kongolo, but feel the salaries of him and Hoedt "may be an issue".
Hoedt has made 45 appearances for Saints, scoring one goal. His most recent outing for the club came in a 3-2 defeat at Fulham in November 2018.
