SAINTS striker Danny Ings could feature for England for the first time since 2015 after he was named in Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions squad for next month’s Nations League fixtures.
Ings has been included in the 24-man group for fixtures against Iceland and Denmark, alongside St Mary’s skipper James Ward-Prowse, who has also been recalled.
England travel to face Iceland in Reykjavik on Saturday, September 5, before heading to Copenhagen to face Denmark on Tuesday, September 8.
Ings, who featured under Southgate at England under-21 level, last featured for the Three Lions against Lithuania in a Euro 2016 qualifier under Roy Hodgson in Vilnius.
The frontman’s return to the international setup comes after he netted 22 Premier League goals last season – only Jamie Vardy scored on more occasions in the top flight.
Ward-Prowse will be looking to add to his two Three Lions caps – both of which have come under Southgate in games against Montenegro and Germany.
Harry Maguire has been named in the squad despite his ongoing court case in Greece, while Southgate has handed uncapped Mason Greenwood, Phil Foden and Kalvin Phillips their first call-ups.
Meanwhile, Saints midfielder Stuart Armstrong has been named in the Scotland squad for fixtures against Israel & Czech Republic.
