TWO goals from Ash Pope guided Christchurch to victory over early season Wessex Premier table-toppers Horndean.

Pope broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute and added his second nine minutes from time, before Mickey Finch secured an impressive 3-0 success.

Christchurch host Dorchester Town in the FA Cup tomorrow.

Also in league action, Poppies were beaten 2-1 by Fareham Town at Victoria Park. Jamie Wilson netted for the hosts, with his goal cancelled out by strikes from Archie Willcox and Calum Benfield.

The FA Vase also returned at the weekend. Lymington Town sailed through with a 3-0 win at Amesbury Town, courtesy of strikes from Craig McAllister, Conrad Churchill and Sam House.

Verwood Town also progressed, winning 2-0 at Hythe & Dibden with Callum Butler and Edgar Zanin on the scoresheet, while goals from Sam Brown, Ryan Hamm, Ryan Osman and Callum Williams earned Ringwood Town a narrow 4-3 win at Fawley.

There was also penalty drama with New Milton Town winning 6-5 on spot kicks after a 0-0 draw with Andover New Street.

Bashley required a shootout to get past Baffins Milton Rovers. Two goals in three second-half minutes from Conor Whiteley earned Bash a 2-2 draw, before they won 4-3 on penalties.

Brockenhurst also progressed. Jude Nwachukwu's late goal saw them draw 1-1 at Corsham and they moved into the next round with a 6-5 shootout success.
