RALPH Hasenhuttl declared Oriol Romeu “the boss of the midfield” during Saints’ 1-0 victory over Burnley on Saturday.

Taken off after 55 minutes on a booking against Tottenham six days previously, the Spanish midfielder put in a stellar performance at Turf Moor to help Saints record their first victory of the campaign.

Asked about the display of Ulldecona-born Romeu, Hasenhuttl said: “We saw two different players I think from last week and this week.

“Last week he was really a disaster. He knows he was too hectic.

“On Saturday he was so calm on the ball, always making the right decisions – not losing one ball.

“He was really the boss of the midfield. With Prowsey together against the ball they were always there, always fighting and in possession he showed how calm he can be.

“It was a fantastic performance from him.”
