SAINTS have confirmed striker Guido Carrillo has terminated his contract at St Mary’s to join La Liga outfit Elche.

The St Mary’s side broke their transfer record to sign Carrillo from Monaco in 2018, shelling out £19.2million.

But the 29-year-old made just 10 first-team appearances, with his last game for Saints coming in a 3-0 defeat at West Ham United in the Premier League in March 2018.

Carrillo, who never scored for Saints, has spent the past two seasons out on loan at Leganes.

A statement on the Saints website said: “The club thanks Guido for his efforts during his time at Southampton and wishes him well for the future.”
