SAINTS defender Wesley Hoedt has secured a season-long loan deal to re-join Serie A outfit Lazio - with an option to buy.

The 26-year-old centre-half has rejoined the Eagles, the club he left to join Saints in August 2017 for £15million.

Hoedt has spent the past 18 months out on loan at Celta Vigo and, most recently, Royal Antwerp.

The Dutchman, who has earned seven senior caps for his country, played 21 times for Antwerp last season.

Hoedt was part of the Lazio squad to win the Italian Super Cup in 2017, beating Juventus 3-2 in the final at Stadio Olimpico.

He has made 45 appearances for Saints, scoring one goal.

His most recent outing for the St Mary’s side came in a 3-2 defeat at Fulham in November 2018.

Lazio have started their Serie A campaign with one victory from their opening three games, picking up four points in the process.
