SAINTS defender Wesley Hoedt penned a post of thanks to former club Antwerp, after linking up with Lazio on loan for the 2020-21 campaign.

The Dutchman, who has earned seven senior caps for his country, played 21 times on loan for Antwerp last season.

And on his return to join Serie A outfit Lazio on Monday, he thanked his previous loan club for their “amazing” support.

A post on Hoedt’s official Instagram page read: “Thank you @royal_antwerp_fc for giving me the opportunity during the past season to find back my joy in football!

“From the first minute I arrived I felt at home and that was a feeling that I had missed! I wanna say a special thank you to all of the Royal Antwerp FC fans who have been truly amazing in supporting me and the team!

“I will never forget all of you! But now it’s time for a new challenge!”

Hoedt has made 45 appearances for Saints, scoring one goal.

His most recent outing for the St Mary’s side came in a 3-2 defeat at Fulham in November 2018.
