SAINTS boss Ralph Hasenhuttl admitted he was less than impressed by the location of the makeshift away changing rooms at Stamford Bridge.

While Chelsea headed down the tunnel for the interval on Saturday, Saints were forced to take a separate exit and use a different dressing room, due to coronavirus guidelines.

This was a route Hasenhuttl claimed was almost three minutes away.

Eager to get instructions into his side during the interval at 2-1 down, the Austrian sent his team out later than Chelsea, who were left waiting on the pitch for the restart.

The visitors eventually salvaged a 3-3 draw, thanks to Jannik Vestergaard’s late goal.

Quizzed on his side’s trip to the changing rooms, Hasenhuttl said: “They are too far away.

“We lose nearly three minutes when you go inside, then we have to come out earlier and it’s not possible.

“You want to coach, you want to reorganise the team. You have a time and they are struggling to go in this quick.”

Asked where away the dressing room was, the manager replied: “The health club I think. Down the stairs, up the stairs, I don’t know where.

“It was a good motivation because when they sit us there, we can tell them ‘look guys, we sit in the last part of the stadium, but we can take something here’.

“We used the time very well and showed them what was not so good in the first half – especially defending in front of our back four.

“We hadn’t been aggressive enough against (Kai) Havertz and (Timo) Werner.”
