RALPH Hasenhuttl is left sweating on the fitness of star man Danny Ings, after he went down with a knee injury against Aston Villa this afternoon.

Ings, who has undergone surgery to repair knee ligament damage in the past, was forced off with five minutes to play after a tough collision with Trezeguet at Villa Park.

Ings had earlier netted a brilliant goal to put Saints 4-0 up. They went on to win 4-3 to move into the top four of the league.

Hasenhuttl was seen visibly angered by the injury to Ings, booting an advertising hoarding in frustration.

Asked for his early assessment of talisman Ings's injury, boss Hasenhuttl said: "We had a few tough duels. There were some maybe a little bit too tough.

"This is one (on Ings) that was right in front of me and we know his history with his knees and hopefully this is not too bad to be honest.

"It didn’t look good. He overstretched his knee and this is always dangerous.

"I hope it’s not too bad. But immediately he shouted 'my knee!'.

"Hopefully this is not a bad injury. It’s not swollen or something at the moment, but we’ll have to look tomorrow and scan it."
